Choosing the right suit for your job interview

Your CV is up to scratch, you have put in your application and then the phone rings and you're offered an interview. You're pretty confident and have knowledge of the company, but what are you going to wear? Your choice of attire can really help you make a lasting impression on the big day, and Young's are here to point you in the right direction.

Your interview outfit deconstructed:

The Suit

Dark colours are the best option for interviews at professional work places, navy and grey will show a little bit about your personality and do some of the talking for you. Although black is classic, it's only really appropriate if you are seeking a job in the TV or fashion industry. To avoid creasing always choose cotton, linen creases easily and can leave you looking untidy by the time you get to your interview.

Shirt

Plain white is the way forward and will contrast nicely with navy or blue, we suggest one of our standard or slim fit white shirts which are suitable for any office environment.

Shoes

Co ordinate your shoes with your suit, so go for black with a grey or blue suit and brown with a brown or blue suit - If you are really style conscious, choose leather instead of suede.

Accessories

Although you want all attention to be on you, don't let your choice of accessories cause a distraction. Go with single colour socks (sorry no Christmas patterns) and ties that match the shirt.
