5 Autumn Trends To Try This Month

If you are heading out to work during the early hours you will have already noticed that the mornings are getting darker and the sunglasses are being left at home. Autumn is here.

With cooler temperatures comes an opportunity to inject some personality into your formal wardrobe. Here are 5 ways you can tackle tricky weather and still look great from head to toe.

The easiest way to add interest is with accessories, but if your everyday scarf becomes tiresome there are lots of other options. Leather gloves are a style staple with a versatility that can be incorporated into every outerwear ensemble. On your way to events, don’t worry about covering your carefully chosen neckwear and find an equally eye catching scarf that matches.

As timeless as they are, dress shoes don’t have to be your first choice this season. Boots are a stylish stand in that are a lot more practical for Autumn weather and won’t look out of place with a suit. Reach for a pair of black or brown chelsea boots next time you’re heading to work or dinner.

Once a fear in the fashion world, it’s now trendy to wear more than one piece of the same colour in an outfit. More casually named tonal dressing. Wear different shades of the same colour instead of a traditional monochrome colour palette. Try neutrals or blues for a chic, elegant yet professional feel.

Tonal dressing is a great way to play around with the trends of 2019, but to add dimension we recommend trying out different textures. Heavier fabrics, wools and tweeds are all welcomed this season, making chilly commutes more enjoyable. You can browse our collection of tweed check pieces here.

Although it’s fun to experiment, we can always rely on fail safe knitwear and overcoats for layering. At formal dinners and weddings a well tailored overcoat will layer well with a waistcoat, provide warmth and a touch of heritage. A jumper and shirt combo with tailored trousers is an easier choice that is always favoured during the transitional season.
