2018 Trend Roundup - What caught our eye?

2018 was a year for experimenting with the norms of formalwear. Shade ranges god louder, patterns got bolder and overall, outfit choices were braver. We all had our favourite trends, some which are here to stay and some that are now just a distant memory that feel a little daunting. So what stood out to us?

Relaxed / Loose Fit Trousers

Comfort and styles are the perfect combinations, so the comeback of relaxed trousers was warmly welcomed by Men who were done with suffocating skinny fits. It turns out that loose fitting pieces do have a place at formal events and can be pulled off perfectly with the right know how. We learnt there was a cut off point for how lose the fit could be without being baggy and that the right shoes can really complete the look.

Velvet

Sophistication continued to dominate formalwear last year in the form of velvet suits. The plush fabric made plain suits exciting again and became popular on the red carpet, making it a popular and easy to style trend for evening events. But can you have too much of a good thing? As impressive as velvet is, we saw that mixing fabrics was the way forward with styling this trend.

Checkered Everything

As well as exciting colours, 2018 saw a rise in eye catching patterns, particularly checks. Monochrome, muted or subtle, everyone seemed to love it. Although a statement choice, checked suits fit right in at weddings, work and dinners with different colours and fits appropriate for each. With a great pair of Brown shoes, anyone could wear this trend.
